THE RACE
REGULATION 2026 ZARAGOZA
Article 1. Organizer
- WOP Challenge Zaragoza 2026 is an international team sporting event (running/trail running) held on May 30 and 31 in the province of Zaragoza, starting and finishing in the city of Zaragoza.
- The test has a clear character of social commitment since the profit from it is dedicated to the fight against neurodegenerative diseases (dissemination, awareness, funding of research projects).
- THE WALK ON PROJECT FOUNDATION is presented as the organizer of the event, assuming the legal responsibilities that fall under its profile as promoter.
Article 2. Route
- This is a circular route starting and ending in the city of Zaragoza, crossing the province of Zaragoza and passing through some of its most iconic locations. The approximate total distance of the route is 230 km.
- The route is divided into 20 stages, each with an average distance of 11 km.
- WOP Challenge Zaragoza is a running/trail race for teams of between 2 and 12 people.
- The map of the routes and details of each stage can be found at wopchallenge.com.
Article 3. Registration
Team registrations:
- Teams will consist of between 2 and 12 people.
- The competition will have a maximum of 50 teams. The decision to increase this amount or not shall be at the sole discretion of the organization.
- The registration platform for teams will be open from January 15, 2026, to May 14, 2026. Registration may close before this deadline if the maximum number of teams for the event is reached.
- Registration will be done through the website wopchallenge.com
- Registration is done by the team coordinator. At the time of registration the coordinator will set a team password with which he/she can maintain and update the list of team members. The coordinator may be a participant in the race as a runner or be an administrative/coordination contact.
- THE WALK ON PROJECT FOUNDATION, the organizer of the event, aims to promote research into therapies for neurodegenerative diseases and the dissemination and awareness of the reality of those affected by them. All of the foundation’s activities have the aforementioned ultimate goals.
- WOP Challenge Zaragoza pursues the above goals and, as such, the organizer adds a collective challenge for the teams to achieve a set number of minutes of research and fight against these diseases. The teams participating in the race will participate in the achievement of these goals since their registration will only be complete and effective through a MINIMUM CONTRIBUTION OF “MINUTES” qualified as STAGE 0 of the race. STAGE 0 can be covered by selling tickets for Estropatada 2026 (a Duck race in Bilbao and Zaragoza organized by the WOP Foundation itself) or by making a monetary contribution. The minimum amount must be paid by the date of collection of the bibs.
- Team registration fees will be:
- 295 euros (until February 17, 2026)
- 325 euros (From February 18, 2026, to March 19, 2026)
- 375 euros (From March 20, 2026, to April 29, 2026)
- 415 euros (From April 30, 2026 until registration closes)
- The minimum contribution of research minutes for registration to be complete and effective is equivalent to 100 Estropatada tickets or a contribution of 400 euros.
- Participants must be over 16 years of age. In the case of minors, in order to participate, they must have authorization from their responsible guardian (official authorization form provided by the organization).
- Participants will have daily insurance, the cost of which is included in the registration fee and covers all team members. The coverage and insurance amounts are those established in Royal Decree 849/1993 on sports.
- Registration implies acceptance of all articles of the rules by all participants.
- Registration includes:
- Participation in the race.
- A participation bib.
- A timing and geolocation chip witness (one per team)
- Medical assistance during the race.
- Positioning control of each relay for your safety.
- Continuous attention from the test command center.
- An official technical T-shirt
- A finisher’s medal for those who finish the race
- Shower facilities at the finish line
- For logistical and production reasons, the organization cannot guarantee 100% the sizes of the T-shirts for registrations made after April 13, 2026.
- Each participant participates in the race under his own responsibility (or that of his guardian in the case of minors) and has a sufficient level of physical condition to finish the race.
- If a team has chosen the “Sell Estropatada tickets” option to complete stage 0 and does not sell the minimum number of tickets required, it may complete stage 0 by making a cash contribution. To do so, each ticket sold will reduce the additional cash contribution required by €4. For example: “A team chose the ticket sales option to cover stage 0, instead of making a financial contribution of 400 euros. In the end, it only sold 75 tickets. To complete stage 0, it will have to make a financial contribution of 400 – 4*75 = 100 euros. In other words, the team will cover stage 0 by selling 75 tickets and paying an additional 100 euros.”
Article 4. Classifications
Final standings will be posted on the event website www.wopchallenge.com
- Sports classification
There will be a final overall team classification. Likewise, the times of each participant in each stage will be available. The top three teams will receive a trophy at the awards ceremony to be held on May 31, 2026, at the place and time specified on the event website.
- Fight time ranking
Of particular relevance, given that this is a project with a clear social background, will be the classification of minutes spent fighting neurodegenerative diseases achieved by the teams through the sale of tickets for Estropatada Zaragoza, financial contributions, or other means made available to the teams by the organization.
Article 5. Cancellations, exchanges and refunds
- The organization will not assume any responsibility in case there are factors that make the celebration of the march impossible, such as extraordinary weather conditions or force majeure.
- In case a team does not participate in the race once registered, it will not be possible to transfer the bibs to another group of people to form a new team without prior consultation with the organization.
- The bibs are personal and nominative of each participant of each team and, therefore, non-transferable.
- Changes to the participants in each team may be made by the team coordinator by sending an email to reto@wopmail.org, provided that the changes comply with the team formation rules (specified in Article 3 of these regulations). If, on the other hand, the definitive changes contravene the rules, the change will result in the cancellation of the event.
- If cancellation is communicated up to 20 days before the event, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. The refund will be made using the same payment method used to make the payment.
- If the team requesting withdrawal has chosen to complete Stage 0 through the sale of Estropatada tickets, it must return the physical tickets to the organization. The registration fee will be refunded when the organization receives the unsold Estropatada tickets and payment for the tickets sold.
- The amount of the tickets sold is not refundable. The team must return the totality of the tickets provided by the organization, or its equivalent economic amount.
- No refunds will be given for registration fees during the last 20 days before the test, regardless of the reason, including injuries, accidents, travel, work schedule changes, etc.
Article 6. Collection of race bibs and relay chip
- The organization will soon inform the place and times for the collection of bibs.
- It is mandatory to present the proof of registration and the ID card or passport of the team member who picks up the bibs.
- No bibs will be handed out at any other place or outside these spaces and times.
- The date of collection of the bibs will be the deadline to make the minimum contribution of minutes of research to be provided for the registration to be complete and effective.
Article 7. Timing
- Each team and each participant will know the time in which they have completed the full distance and each relay in their personal challenge.
- In order to collect the times in an efficient way, it is important that the relay chip is well placed in the place indicated by the organization. If it is inside a backpack, a pocket, folded, etc., the detector will not work properly, running the risk of not being read and losing the time record.
- The Chip is also a security element of the race as it allows at all times the geolocation of all participants who are running at a given time, so it is important that its placement strictly follow the instructions that will be provided at the time of collection.
- On the other hand, the personal bib must be well placed following the instructions for the control of the relays by the judges at the control points, as well as for an easy identification by the photographers at the different points of the course.
- Chips must be returned to the organization at the end of the race.
- The bibs are disposable and therefore should not be returned to the organization.
Article 8. Schedules and closures
- The organization will set two intermediate cut-off points. The specific points, times, and cut-off mechanism will be specified to the participating teams at least 7 days before the event via the established official communication channels.
- Likewise, the organization will set an overall maximum time for the race. Teams that have not finished the race at that time shall be eliminated from the race at that time for all purposes. The maximum overall cut-off time will be published on the event website.
Article 9. Relay mechanics
- WOP Challenge Zaragoza is a team relay race that follows the official track.
- Relays are carried out exclusively at the official relay points specified at www.wopchallenge.com.
- At each of the official relay points there will be an official relay station with members of the organization and judges.
- The relay element is the timing and positioning chip of the team member who is running the stage at any given time.
- All team members must do at least one complete relay. If a team member does not perform any relay, he/she will be removed from the team.
- The official stage reliever may be accompanied on foot by another/other members of his/her team if so decided by the team.
- The same team member may perform several consecutive or alternate relays, always maintaining the obligation that all members of a team must perform at least one complete relay.
- The person coordinating the team must inform the organization through the mail reto@wopmail.org with a deadline of 5 days before the celebration of the event of the people of his team who will make each of the relays.
- En tiempo de carrera se permitirán los cambios en las personas concretas que realizarán cada uno de los relevos siempre previa comunicación oficial al centro de control de la carrera. Changes may not result in any of the team members not taking over. The official means of communication in race time will be communicated to the coordinators of each team prior to the start of the race.
- During the race, in case of injury or health problem of the team member with the chip in the middle of one of the stages, he/she may be relieved by another member of the same team, after notifying the race command center. This will be the only caveat that will prevent the discharge as a member of the team. In this eventuality the next reliever of the team has to wait for the chip and for the relay point to be reached by the reliever (from another team) who was behind the injured at the moment the organization is aware of the injury. The organization’s motorcycles will take the chip to the relay point as soon as possible (always giving priority to safety tasks). Likewise, a 45-minute penalty will be applied to the final time of the race. If the injured rider was to ride a subsequent consecutive stage, the team may substitute him/her in those subsequent stages.
Article 10. Refueling
- All official relay points will have a refreshment point (solid and liquid) attached for runners who arrive there as a destination or as a passage.
- Runners must stop at the areas provided at the official relay point if they wish to use the refreshment services.
- Runners must be properly identified with their race bib to receive supplies.
Article 11: Insurance
- The organization will have a civil liability insurance policy in accordance with current legislation. In addition, all participants will be covered by an accident insurance policy. The policy covers the coverage required by RD DEPORTIVO 849/1993, of June 4, 1993.
- Participation in this event is at the participants’ own risk and responsibility. The participant at the time of registration declares to be in perfect health to compete in the race.
- The organization is not responsible for any damage that may be caused by the participants during the race, themselves or derive from them to third parties.
Article 12: Security
- Security on public roads will be the responsibility of the municipal police with jurisdiction in each municipality and of the organization itself.
- The health services will be authorized to withdraw any participant for medical reasons.
- Motorized vehicles or bicycles not belonging to the organization are strictly forbidden.
- Vehicles and personnel from the organization will be present, including the Civil Guard, Municipal Police, and the organization’s health service.
- The organizing entity will also install indicative signs, signage, arrows and duly identified volunteer personnel in the places it deems convenient and/or possible. It must be understood that these volunteers are merely an informative aid and not a mandatory condition.
- All participants in the WOP Challenge Zaragoza must have the mandatory daily insurance that will cover them with medical assistance and also guarantee accident coverage (in accordance with Article 3).
- The Organization’s auxiliary personnel may take decisions that affect road safety, non-compliance with these regulations and the Road Safety Law as well as Annex II of the current General Road Traffic Regulations.
- The participants will be guarded by vehicles distributed throughout the different areas where the participants will run.

- The team coordinator will be the sole valid contact person with the organization for organizational matters, unless this is impossible (for example, but not exclusively, changes in the organization of shifts, additions or removals of team members, queries, etc.). This single interlocution does not affect safety, health or any other reasonable communications during race time, during which, for these purposes and in these cases, any member of the team may contact the race command center.
- The team coordinator should identify an alternate for the team in the event of his/her unavailability.
Article 17: Rights of the organizer
